The objective was to provide 12 classrooms with toilets and a kitchen facility during the refurbishment works at Plantation Primary School. The temporary buildings were to be used to decant all the years 3-6 classroom facilities during the school remodelling.
This job presented several challenges. Firstly, after winning the tender, the scheme was still over budget. SiBCAS had to value an engineer to reduce the overall cost. This was achieved through close liaison with the client and the council’s building control department to redesign all foundations and surface connections to be surface mounted. Additionally, the playing field location was further complicated by a considerable fall/difference in levels up to 1 meter. Furthermore, the project was time-sensitive, as it was required for the new September term despite extensive design changes and the client’s financial sign off. Therefore, SiBCAS worked during weekends and bank holidays to make sure the job was completed on time.
SiBCAS delivered a comprehensive solution by providing high-quality temporary classrooms equipped with necessary amenities such as toilets and a kitchen. The installation was carried out efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to the school’s daily routines. The team worked closely with the client and the council’s building control department to redesign all foundations and surface connections to be surface-mounted, which helped in reducing the overall cost.
The project resulted in an excellent building, which the client, headteacher, and staff were all delighted with. The temporary classrooms provided by SiBCAS were of a very high standard, offering an excellent environment for both teaching and learning.
