BRIEF
Ladywood School identified the need for additional classroom space to accommodate their pupils with complex additional support needs.
After observing SiBCAS’s impressive work on a nearby school project, in particular the “bespoke design and modern feel”, Ladywood School reached out to explore potential solutions for their available space and requirements.
PROJECT SCALE
Size: 32 x 30 Modular Classroom with toilet, kitchen, office & store facilities, single storey PermaSpace
BUILDING USE
SiBCAS were awarded the full turnkey package at Ladywood School and worked closely with the customer to fulfil their requirements, from initial design, through to handover and completion.
The installation of the modules was undertaken during term, whilst students were attending school, which meant meticulous planning and traffic management was required to ensure a seamless execution.
Throughout the project the SiBCAS team prioritised minimising the disruptions to both teachers and pupils.
The new facility was designed with an open plan space in mind, with large windows bringing in natural lighting, creating a relaxed and calming environment for the pupils using the facility.
Additional features include toilet facility, kitchen area, store room and office/quiet space.
CHALLENGES
The installation of the classrooms was required to be undertaken during term whilst students were attending school. This restricted vehicular access which required Sibcas to coordinating with inset times which involved minibus movements. Sibcas also had to pay particular attention on minimising the disruptive effects on the pupils especially those with sensory needs.
OUTCOME
The project was successfully delivered on time, leaving the school highly satisfied with the final result.
