Hagley Primary School is a rapidly expanding primary school in Worcestershire. Due to the rise in pupil numbers they were/are undergoing an expansion programme which involves adding a new early year’s facility using traditional methods. It became clear fairly late in the academic year that the construction works would not be completed in time for the pupils returning in September. In July we were contacted by the school who said they required a short term high quality modular classroom to be installed and operational in time for the teachers to move in and decorate before the return of the pupils.
SiBCAS used all their experience and resources to not only source a suitable temporary building, they managed to pass on significant cost savings to the customer by utilising a building that was on the fleet. Sibcas refurbished the modular building to a high standard and managed to exceed the customers’ expectations by handing the building over to the school earlier than expected.

Timescale: 3 weeks from order to practical completion

The major challenges to overcome were:
- The tight timeframe required to deliver the project. From enquiry to the clients required handover, we had circa 6 weeks to deliver.
- Working in conjunction with the schools incumbent contractor
- The differing levels on site
SiBCAS looked at ways they were able to help the school. To overcome the timescales we looked to allocate a modular building from another local school that was coming toward the end of its hire. We also looked at ways to ensure the layout was amended for the children and teachers alike to ensure the best learning environment.
SiBCAS allocated a dedicated project manager to ensure that all elements of the delivery and install were managed effectively; this included managing the integration between SiBCAS and the school’s contractor. Sibcas advised and oversaw the groundworks, and service connections needed. To overcome the differing levels on site and to meet the demanding timeframe, SiBCAS utilised a value engineered Timber Baulk Foundation system.
Sibcas worked closely with all project stakeholders meaning that not only did we deliver a fantastic standalone modular classroom; we also did so within budget and within the required timescale.
“So far, from enquiry to installation has been brilliant!”
