To provide 6 no modular classrooms to enable teaching of Drama, Music, Art and Design Technology to continue whilst the original wing of the school is re built.
Modular classrooms, lobby and store area
The site was very tight for the modular buildings, which all had to be accommodated on a car park with a significant fall across it. There was no room for all of the individual ramps/steps required, so SiBCAS designed a common landing to run in between all of the modular classrooms, which meant they could maintain full DDA access with just 1 ramp and halved the steps needed from 6 to 3. Following building control request to have main access via a double width step, we then had to design and build a walkway at short notice to run across the cambered car park forming a ‘bridge’ between the kerb and our double step.
The mobile village provides much needed temporary teaching accommodation during the replacement of the design technology wing of the school. This is part of a project funded by the Welsh Assembly of Wales, 21st Century School scheme. The modular classrooms provide a flexible space for Drama, Music, Art and DT lessons.
When temporary accommodation was first suggested by the build project team, the school initially had reservations. However, the accommodation provided by SiBCAS is beyond expectations. The layout has been tailored exactly to our requirements. The accommodation was installed without any issues and it has been a pleasure working with the SiBCAS team. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sibcas.
