2012 Olympics – Welfare Unit Hire London

Brief

Sibcas Limited were approached by ISG who had secured the Off-Park Contract Works for LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games). ISG required an accommodation specialist who could provide a wide range of mobile welfare units for hire across multiple sites within the London area.

Project Scale

Sibcas covered approx 27 different locations across London.
The mobile welfare units were hired over an 11 month period.
A total of 172 individual Unicon anti vandal site accommodation units were required.
The total project value was circa £340k

Building Use

The welfare units supplied included offices, meeting rooms, canteens, drying rooms and toilet blocks. In addition Sibcas also supplied generators, bowsers, staircases, tank and toilet servicing and furniture.

Challenges

Delivering units within the Olympic and Metropolitan restrictions
Providing multiple units on different sites sometimes at short notice.
Co-ordinating the transport with the security on site to ensure that vehicles and Operatives were booked in within the required timeframe.

Solution

Outcome

We worked closely with ISG Project Managers to ensure they received the best possible relocatable accommodation delivered without delay . We were aware that our client was working on a prestigious project with challenging deadlines and did our utmost to ensure that the welfare accommodation was supplied at the earliest opportunity to allow ISG to commence work on site. We also needed to carry out site surveys on some of the sites especially when the cabins needed stacking or linking to provide a method of installing the units safely without delaying the delivery.

Testimonial

"Sibcas were our site accommodation supplier for all London 2012 venues. It was a pleasure dealing with the Sibcas team throughout the course of the contract works. Sibcas were efficient and diligent in providing their expertise and help with pre- construction work, this involved extensive planning on some venues where the site setup needed to accommodate over 1000 operatives. Sibcas provided units which were clean, neat and practical for their intended purpose. Our client insisted on strict de-branding and this was easily achieved by the Sibcas team. Installation on site was smooth and hassle-free which was essential given the tight time constraints and strict deadlines on Olympic venues. This was again evident when accommodation needed to be removed before the Games and re-installed afterwards on a number of venues. The process was quick and easy thanks to the ever astute management of Kevin Divers and the Sibcas team. I would not hesitate to use Sibcas again and can highly recommend them on any projects of a similar nature.
