SiBCAS were selected by Kier Construction – one of the UK’s leading Construction specialists – to design, manufacture and deliver a complete science block consisting of 20 Modular Construction Classrooms, as well as internal and externals staircases, reception area, offices, stores and toilets. The modular classrooms required complete fitout (both science and computer).
Size: 9.76m x 85.62m (32’ x 280’) 2 storey
Science and Computer Village
A very small timescale was set by the client and their project managers for the delivery and installation. The site access was extremely tight, coupled with being limited to a narrow single approach road. This meant that careful planning of a delivery schedule beforehand was essential, to avoid any delays to the local traffic. Using our qualified banksmen to guide the vehicles both on and off site, disruption was kept to an absolute minimum. Lifting operations had to be completed within close proximity to the existing school, and using our own experienced operatives, was achieved safely and without incident.
A large amount of bespoke fixtures and fittings were required to complete the installation and these could only be carried out once the buildings were in situ. The client was aware of the amount of work that would be required and arranged for some of this to be completed during the normal school term. Once again, this was carried out professionally and with the minimum disruption to the school.
Despite the challenges encountered, the modular construction classrooms were delivered in the time set and to the expectations of the client as well as to the satisfaction of the school.
The temporary classrooms were installed to a very high standard with a quality finish. The whole project was delivered on time and to our satisfaction. We would be happy to use SiBCAS for future Modular Building requirements.
